The Space
This new mastering facility is built around a Dolby ATMOS configuration. Room dimensions were specifically laid out to both accommodate speaker positions and achieve good standing wave characteristics for the main stereo monitors.
The room outer shell is designed to minimize modal resonances, and the inner shell is designed to provide specular absorption and LF damping for all the mid-field speaker positions. The unique rear wall features a quadratic residence sequenced record shelf, repurposed from a previous build, that provides mid/high band diffusion. Above, below and behind this assembly are full depth wide band absorbers.
The design achieves very uniform energy decay characteristics and excellent specular reflection suppression to yield a smooth and neutral listening condition which is pivotal for critical mastering decisions.
