The Space
The new Jam post facilities feature a dedicated foley stage and a Dolby ATMOS HE mix theatre.
The focus for the foley stage was to create a highly flexible space with extremely low background noise and vibration performance. This was realized with a carefully engineered cast in place concrete floating floor that loads the room mass to specific structural members of the base building. The studio features foley pits and well as plumbing for water effects. Room acoustic treatment provides a uniform well damped sound field. Acoustic panels can be repositioned if more room tone is needed.
The mix theatre is a generously sized 650 square foot Dolby ATMOS HE mix studio. The theatre features a large custom configured Avid Icon mixing desk, and an 18’ screen with JBL M2 monitors for the LCR.
The acoustic design features custom made sound absorber modules that tailor response to room position yielding a uniform decay consistent with Dolby requirements. The front wall uses a continuous baffle wall for the monitors and subwoofers. The front left, right and ceiling corners incorporate low frequency damping which flank the screen.
