The Space
Brief description of overall studio design features, with emphasis on acoustical design properties:
This new studio facility, “Studio G”, is built in a residential setting for noted multi grammy and juno nominated engineer George Seara.
The design challenge was fitting George’s full analog workflow into a former tenant space in his home. The design is built around accommodating a 48 channel SSL 4000G+. The Neumann monitoring is nearfield for the front channels, with inwall rear channels, in ceiling upper channels, and wall mounted side channels.
Acoustic treatment maximizes specular absorption and low frequency damping on all axis of the space, which is paramount in yielding great channel response and room decay characteristics. Extensive front and rear wall damping is central to the scheme. A separate machine room houses the console power supplies, automation computer, and session computers & interfaces. The studio allows George to work close to home in a critically accurate environment.
