The Space

Nestled on a cozy cobble stone side street in the heart of Downtown Toronto you will find 69 Berkeley, a modern re purposing of a beautiful historic building.  Designed for Jared Kuemper in response to the growing needs of clients and agencies,  this audio post facility was developed to provide comfort and creativity while also maintaining a functional production environment.  In addition to the studio proper, Berkeley offers excellent amenities and inviting spaces encouraging clients to feel at home during their stay.

The Design

The design focused around incorporating the large existing structural glazing while also maintaining a critical listening environment.  This was achieved with the strategic placing of acoustic treatment throughout the studio proper, and the incorporation of large diaphragmatic absorbers behind the listening position.

A vocal booth flanks the studio proper, with large glazing separating the spaces.  This offers incredible sight lines through the facility and promotes easy communication between the engineer and voice actors.

In addition to the studio space Pilchner Schoustal worked with Berkeley to create acoustically isolated client areas, including a small production area and basement lounge.
